My lightning 7970 looooves voltage. I'm just not sure where to stop. My asic score is rather low(60%), if that means anything. Anyhow, I've never really needed to overclock it too much but I'm just bored and tinkering.
My default core voltage is 1.175. It takes 1.275v to be 100% stable @1200mhz. I've played BF3 for a couple hours without issue. On the stock fan profile, fan speed hardly gets over 55% or so and is quiet while temps never get above about 67c.
I have briefly run the card at 1300mhz and beyond With the voltage maxed (1.35) just to see if it could even run at those speeds, which it did. Provided my temps stay low like under 80c, what voltage do you guys think is safe for some testing? I really don't plan on running the card maxed out like that but at the same time I wanna know what she's capable of.
My original reference card was better in the regard that it could run 1250 mhz @ 1.25v but the fan noise and temps were louder and hotter than this card at higher voltage by a long shot. Im quite impressed with the quality of the cooler on the Lighting.
