What do you mean upgrade the card? Are you just trying to find out what card would be a good replacement? The card itself can't be upgraded anyway. And to know what a good upgrade would be, we need to know your system specs.

Yeah...there's no such thing as upgrading the card itself. If you mean how much would you have to spend to get a card that's better, even a 9600 Pro or XT would be substantially more powerful than a GF4800. If I were you, I'd get a GF6600GT, or a 6800 and try a softmod.

200 bucks. 100 for a 512MB stick, 95 for an athlon 2500xp, 5 bucks for duct tape. Instructions on how to upgrade: Lay CPU and RAM on graphics card...duct tape it on like a mad man. Easy as pie upgrade. Crazy upgrade for you for only 200 bucks. Your video card will rock out with its c0ck out.

Don't listen to these silly people, they are just trying to mess with you. Everyone knows that proper ram/cpu modding of a graphics card requires electrical, not duct tape.

Oh please. Don't get me going. You think the PC vs. Apple, or ATI vs. Nvidia are huge battles? They are NOTHING compared to Duct Tape vs. Electrical. My allegiance to the duct will never die. Everyday 54 people die due to the Duct vs Electrical argument (normally 52 out of the 54 are electrical users, cause they are total wuses). You modders that use electrical are a joke. Everyone knows that all graphic card mods need to be done with the duct.

Listen you little whiper-snapper, just because you are a pig-headed, blind ductidiot doesn't mean the OP has to be one as well! Those stats are totally blown out of proportion, the actual numbers are 51 out of 54 die and are electrical users, and thats because they are adding the ram and cpu to create a super-PSU, not modding their GPU's!!! Get it right!!!

Anyone in their right mind would use electrical tape in this instance, it not only holds WAAAAAY better than duct tape, but looks much cooler (can anyone say "stealth card deluxo!?!?") Go back to your duct-tape sniffing and leave the true modding to use electrical-tape pro's.

Don't listen to him OP. It's all LIES. DIRTY DIRTY LIES. Go with the duct. His "Stealth card deluxo" might be cool, but while you are asleep WATCH OUT. At night, the black paint on the electrical card melts and the card becomes "Stealth Ninjo Card Deluxo". The ram becomes the "Stealth Ninjo Card Deluxo" sword and it uses fan blades as ninjo stars. The card will then kill you in your sleep. You have been warned.

I do not mean upgrade the card, I mean upgrade from the card. I wasn't aware anyone believed you could upgrade the card.

I just ordered:
AMD 64 3400
Asus KNE-Deluxe MB
1024 MB Corsair Value Select DDR

I want a good card I can count on, and I am pretty pleased with mine currently other than the fact that I don't know if the problems I have been experiencing have anything to do with the card, which seems to work just fine in another machine. I won't buy a card that is equal, becaus ethat is just wasted money... so I want to know how much I would have to spend to get a card that is noticeably better.

Actually, how would you know what an upgrade would be then? The question included "how much would I HAVE to spend" implying I would rather not, but if I am going to what is the least I could spend and get an actual increase over WHAT I HAVE.

Ahh, much better. As for why I asked what I did... well, read enough posts here and you'll understand. heheh.

Anyway, I went from a similar card, and I'd say get a 6800 NU and softmod it (will end up costing you between $200-$250 and is quite an upgrade). Or if you are an ATI fan you'll probably need to wait for an X700 in AGP to get an equivalent card, although a 9800 Pro isn't tooooooo bad...but the 6800 will own it.
