I work with a guy who runs a hotdog stand on weekends... seems to be pretty good money, I think it might be his primary source of income since he only works at my company part-time.

Ok in my kid's 7th grade algebra class, the equation went like this. . .

profit = cost of hotdogs ( number sold) - operating expenses

so lets say you sell them for 2.50 a piece

let profit = y

let number sold = x

y=2.50x - profit

Hopefully, that'll help you start. . .

Hope your kid is smarter than you.

Well, you should save quite a bit in startup costs if you buy bulk beef instead of the usual wieners, provided you are a DIYer.

How much beef is considered bulk beef? Around the size of a transmission?

wtf is an "upper living places"?

A place where living on uppers is considered ideal.

However much you can get and will fit in your freezer... Bulk=savings.

So about the size of... an.... axle? or maybe a cylinder?

A transmission still works...but it may not be enough. Include the driveshaft as well...

How about a chunk of beef say... the size of an ALTERNATOR?

10-15 pounds. I need a place to buy 10-15 pounds of beef. Bulk. The size of an Alternator.

10 - 15 pounds is not bulk.

It is pretty decent cash. I know an old Colombiana that ran an Arepas stand and she put four kids through school and paid her mortgage all on her own. However the owner has to be prepared to wake up early to drive and get supplies, be willing to maintain the cart and work crazy hours.

Some stand owners just work day shifts in or around shopping malls but other owners will work a lunch and dinner shift at a shopping center, go home and sleep, and then return to the town's bar area to serve all the drunks.

that's the greatest idea ever.

if there were hot dog carts on the street outside of bars when I was in college, I'd have been in heaven.

You mean you've never had the pleasure of a hot dog wrapped in bacon and deep fried after a drunken night out? You poor, poor deprived child. I'm so sorry.

I've worked at many places that had a hotdog guy outside. Get ready for crazy hours. They would get up at 4 or 4:30am to get to the store by 5:30am then leave around 8pm. Worked 7 days a week. ONE GUY!!! It's insane hours and you basically have no life but I'm sure they did fine for them selves. If you can have a team it'd be great so you can have a life but obviously less profit for you.

What about the cost of paying off the democrat politicians who insist on pay to play?
Less than working for free or as an indentured servant like The Republicant's and their cronies would have us do.

stands cost anywhere from 500-8000$

they take in 500-1500 in profit a week depending on where they are
