How much to set up a hotdog stand ? And how much profit ?

THere's a few stands in the upper living place, like malls, and I see them selling things, hotdogs to be exact, that I find really cheap at the Safe-Way. The question is, to be exact, how much is an average rent for a place like that (upper living place), approximately. There's a place (upper living place) near my house but there's no number, and would the profit outcostify the expenses?

There are some video games out there that will help you with this.

Ok in my kid's 7th grade algebra class, the equation went like this. . .

profit = cost of hotdogs ( number sold) - operating expenses

so lets say you sell them for 2.50 a piece

let profit = y

let number sold = x

y=2.50x - profit

Hopefully, that'll help you start. . .

if u do it part time, like on weekends, then no good. but if you do it full time, or split shifts wiht someone else so that it runs full time, then it might compensate for the supplies, rent, insurance and licenses that it will cost.

Ok in my kid's 14th grade microeconomics class, the equation went like this . . .

profit = pq - c(q)

max profit with respect to quantity:

d (profit) / dq = p - c'(q)

Assuming cost structure is linear, we get somethin like this:

d(profit) / dq = p-a

where a is non-negative constant

Now we set this equal to zero:

p - a = 0

so basically we're going to either produce infinite hot dog or zero hot dog, cuz if p>a then we're makin infinite profit as q -> infini-tay and if p<a then we makin negative infinite profit as q -> infini-tay. Now that there condition on that there linear cost structure is not necessarily true. Often we realize something that there's called economies of scale, where the marginal cost of each hotdog is a decreasing as Q increases!

This is some fun stuff aint it!

I need to find me some upper living places to sell these things.

Well, you should save quite a bit in startup costs if you buy bulk beef instead of the usual wieners, provided you are a DIYer.

How much beef is considered bulk beef? Around the size of a transmission?

wtf is an "upper living places"?

A place where living on uppers is considered ideal.

However much you can get and will fit in your freezer... Bulk=savings.

A transmission still works...but it may not be enough. Include the driveshaft as well...

How about a chunk of beef say... the size of an ALTERNATOR?

10-15 pounds. I need a place to buy 10-15 pounds of beef. Bulk. The size of an Alternator.

In that case, a local butcher shop or a sams club/costco should do the trick.

Not fail.

I know a friend of my parents that set up her own hot dog stands. She now owns a shitload of them and is making serious money. Has her own giant house, paid 3 kids on her own through university, travels all around the world all the time. Single too 🙂

Do it.

Nahhh a local butcher couldn't supply 10-15 pounds of BULK beef the size of an ALTERNATOR. I think I need to go visit a farm somewhere...

Make sure you notify the farmer first so he doesn't think that his cattle has just gone missing. The UFOHunters guys already have enough work on their hands.

Oh...as with any thread regarding bulk beef...you must take pics. A few fellow AT'ers are looking for some deals around here...
