How much time does it take for tax refund ?

How much time does it take for state and federal tax return ?
Should I opt for direct deposit or check ?

direct deposit is much faster.
i think it took ~2 weeks to get mine directly deposited this year.

I got my federal tax refund within 2 weeks and state within a week with direct deposit.

i filed electronically but opted to have my check mailed out. took about 3 weeks (state came first in 2 weeks, federal a week later). but this was at the end of january, so i cant guarantee you'll get the same turnaround time if you went this direction.

edit: and ive direct deposited the past 2 years prior, and yes, the turnaround is quick. but that was when i was young and needed the money. i had it mailed this year because i didnt need that money right away.

Apparently federal deposits money every Friday. That's why mine took 2 weeks instead of one or so, I think.

Iowa deposits every Tuesday, not sure about other states.

Do direct deposit! Mine normally takes about 7-10 business days, however this year it only took 6. If you opt for a check it takes ALOT longer by comparison!
