I am planning on installing Turbo Linux as soon as I get a reply.. I am using partition magic pro to make the partitions on a 15gig hard drive. Right now windows is taking up about 8 gigs, but I need room to expand. How much is needed for Linux? And what type of partitions do I need to make?
Thanks a lot! :)

I have Mandrake 7.2 installed on a 2.5 gig hdd, and that is with the maximum install. I would allow another 3 gigs for expansion, then allow linux to install itself on the empty space. If you need help, email shuxclams, he is a linux geek. and good too. He has helped me on more than one occasion.

8 gigs for Windows? Mine isn't using near that much, at least it can't be cause I only have a 9 gig drive, and still 2 gigs left with all my software on it+windows.

I meant to say that my main partition, which includes windows -and- everything else, is 8 gigs...

I guess I can always resize later... so I will give it a shot...

btw, as I understand it, I need a Linux Ext 2 partition and a Swap file, right? I heard that the swap file should be 129 MB, true?

Here is what I'm thinkin:
8 gigs(what I have now)
3.3 gigs (expansion)
3.5 gigs(linux)
.129 gigs (swap)

Actually I'm fond of clearing up some free space and then letting the linux install partition the remaining the empty area. Many distros will make a swap patition, a /boot a /home, a /var, etc :)
