how much slower?

Depends on a number of factors but having two sticks enables dual channel mode and that can significantly improve memory performance. With AMD chips, the difference can be quite startling.
 
Well it's just a $350 build for internet/music/videos etc; it's with a $55 gigabyte mobo, E1200, 2gb ram, geforce 7050 in mobo, 500 gb hdd
so the speed wont matter.

Yeah, i wouldn't get too worried about the slight loss from no dual channel in tht kinda config 🙂
