While the US EPA estimates are based on mixed highway traffic, the Canadian highway test is based on roads with absolutely no traffic. You should get about 41mpg in the I4 Accord (this years model) and 37mpg in the V6 Accord on a highway with no traffic.

Holy hell, are all car prices in Canada ridiculous like that? I just looked it up, in Canada the model with the V6 has an MSRP that starts at $36.8k US. Now it does appear that you need to get the fancier model with the navigation to get the V6. However, in the US the model with the V6 and the navigation starts at an MSRP of $31.9k US.

Because it's Canada. We get screwed on all pricing compared to the States.

this. isn't the dollar worth less now in canada? you can get a new accord for ~ 25k out the door. what would import tariffs be if you took it to canada? probably will come out much less than if you were to buy in canada

Accords are built in NA no? If so, no duty, just pay sales tax when you import the vehicle. I don't know if Honda Canada will honour the warranty though.

Only years they made the V6 sedan accord in 6MT was 2006-2007 and it didn't sell well, but they don't hold premiums. I still think youd have an easier time finding a G35 sedan manual before the accord sedan manual

Real world highway mileage in cars I've driven and measured, in miles per US gallon (not imperial gallons)
2006 Honda Civic 1.8L = 41mpg with air conditioner running
2010 Toyota Corolla 1.8L = 40mpg with air conditioner running
2005 Nisssan Altima 3.5L V6 = 32mpg with air conditioner running

Those are pretty close to the Canadian highway ratings.
I keep track of mileage every time I drive between Edmonton and Cold Lake, about 180 miles one way, and the first two cars consistently nailed those numbers. The Altima belongs my parents and their trips are usually between Edmonton and Chilliwack, about 630 miles each direction.

As long as you're not driving like a retard, you'll get very close to the Canadian ratings. If you drive like a retard or drive in very dense traffic, you'll get the US ratings.
