In general gaming at 1920x1200 how much slower is a 6870 to the 5870? And if you had to get one card now for gaming at 1920x1200 which would it be the 6870 or the 5870?

6870 is about 5% slower I guess.. and I don't think you will notice much difference in real life.

Depends on the pricing. At 1920x1200 4-8AA, the performance difference is between 13-14% in favour of the 5870. However, right now Newegg has an HD6870 for $180 vs. 5870 for $215. So you are paying 19% more for a 13-14% performance increase.
