I've got a 2.53 GhZ p4 with the stock cooler. I've used Antec silver goop on the heatsink and p4, though I think I did a subpar job on the heatspreader by not covering the edges, but anyway, I want to know how much I should o/c it. It's currently at 140 fsb at 2660 mhz running prime95's torture tests peaking at 50 celsius averaging about 48 degrees. How much more do you think I should o/c it past that? Also, is this an acceptable temperature for a 127 mhz update? Anyway, what cooler should I upgrade to from the stock hs/f? One more thing, what should I have used to remove the thermal tape from the hs/f? I used a wide flat screwdriver and scratched the heatsink and heatspreader up really badly. :( In retrospect, it was a VERY bad idea

If you really scratched the HS up THAT badly, you really should take it off and lap it down. How did you manage to scratch the heatspreader on the CPU with the screwdriver? I used a plastic knife to remove thermal tape, as the plastic won't scratch metal (unless you really sawed away at it). If you're going to overclock you should probably invest in a beefier HSF anyway.
