How much rise in temperature?

My 3.2 Gig P4 processor temperature goes up 19 degrees C running some Spyware scans. Nothing else running. It goes from 41C at idle to 60C. Is this too much change?
I have 2 80mm fans(one in front bottom, the other in side) and 2 20mm cooling the HD( top front of case)--all bringing air in. Also have a 120mm fan exhausting in the rear. The 80's and 120 are temp controlled for speed. They do go up RPM wise, as temp rises.

Never had the ability to check this until now. May have been doing it for months, don't really know. More exhaust? Check the processor? It was cleaned last month. Blew the lint out, etc..

Your thoughts appreciated!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Running a spyware or antivirus program scan seems to put a PC at full load most of the time it's running so your temps are pretty normal.

That's the way it is on mine.

Can you run Prime95 for 12 hours without interruption and with no errors? If yes, you are OK. If not, you may want to fix it. But, first find out which one it is.

No problem.

It is one of the programs that overclockers use to check the stability of their computers. I am not saying that you are overclocking. But, I am suspecting the stability of your system.

You can download it from here. http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm

This is the version for Windows XP. http://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v2414.exe

Download, install and run. In the window that opens, click on "Options" and click on "Torture Test". Click "OK". Now, your CPU and RAM are both under load. Monitor the CPU temperature.

If there is an error (which could happen if the temperature goes too high), the program stops and outputs the length of time that it ran.

If the program runs for 12 hours without stopping, you should be OK. If it stops before, report back. If you have any other questions, ask.

i have a feeling you have a prescott... if you do, then that's pretty much normal.

If it's a northwood p4, the temps are a tad high, but not too far off. Maybe you're due for another dust cleaning.
