How much rig do I need to run oblivion with all the eye candy on?

Hi, I haven't payed attention to hardware much since I built my last pc back in 2003.

I was wondering if someone could suggest me the least expensive motherboard/proc/memory/vid card combos I could buy that would let me run oblivion with all of the bells and whistles turned on.

Thanks!

Click the Video tab and look at different video cards, Oblivion is included in most of the benchmarks.

Short answer for "all of the bells and whistles turned on" at high resolution is a Core 2 E6600 and an 8800GTX 🙂

If price is something you are concerned about, Oblivion with all the settings up is out of the question.

While it may not look as good, you would be better off just grabbing a 360 and a copy of the game. Cheaper and easier than buying/building a computer. 😉

Thanks guys, I didn't realize that it was still a fairly new game/resource hog. I got a copy installed on my old machine but had to turn off so much visuals to get it to run smoothly that I decided to upgrade the machine before playing it. I'll probably shelve it until stuff is more affordable as I can't stand to spend more than $500. Thanks!

The main rig in my system handles Oblivion with all the eyecandy very well. Even while using HDR.
