Once all the tech arrives i will be building a high end gaming machine. How much ram do i need? Would 1 gig suffice or would 2 gig be better?
thanx

1GB will suffice... it will be an overkill for many games actually..

2GB?? do you want to run a server?? lol ;P

Since you said "high end gaming machine" I'd get the gig. 512 should be enough for most everything else.

With the volatile memory prices we have, dont bother buying more because you think youll need it in the future. The price of 1gb today and 1gb in several moths will certainly be less.

You need a gig for a top end gaming machine. When I played SWG, adding another 512 made world of difference. So there are games out now that are that demanding. Besides, anything less would be uncivilized. :)

Definately 1gb. I was running the Painkiller demo and when my other 512 came back from RMA, it made all the difference. Load times were faster and there were less slow downs.... And this was on a 2.0 AMD Radeon 9700 Machine. God that game is a memory hog.

Jebus you guys all run 1GB of ram?!! Man I swear RAM makes the world of differance but honestly 512+ I can't tell the differance. All my machines have 512 (gaming or not), but I couldn't justify $150+ in ram.

FarCry and Painkiller were both using 650-700MB when I was playing them.
