how much ram is enough in XP?

i have 192 ram and thinking of getting more, however i am running at p2 300 only... how much ram is enough for xp to be smooth with all it's colorful-ness?? pleasepost your Xperiences :)

I have XP pro running on a celeron 266 with 128mb ram. Runs, but not very smooth. Then again, the video card is this old Permedia 2 PCI card, so it's not surprising that it isn't smooth. Upgrade!

128MB would be a good minimum, but 192MB is fine for standard, single-tasking usage. If you wanted to multi-task, then 256MB would probably be a better figure.

I think you have plenty of ram. It's your processor that needs to be faster. Can you put a faster chip in your mobo?

The 25th is when the update version comes out... You can get a full install ver of Home or Pro now.

sweet!! ~! I just got my ram from dell, ordered on tuesday and got today and now my pc is at 320mb, pretty fast for a p2 @ 300, but i can truely say not as fast as win2k pro was when i only had 192mbs
