How much RAM does the iPhone 6s have?

Rumors were saying 2GB, but I see nothing in the releases about it. Nothing about RAM at all actually, but I'm assuming 1GB.

I don't think Apple has ever publicly provided RAM info on iPhones. People have to dig it up. But I think there's a good chance it's 2GB.

We either have to wait for Geekbench benchmarks to leak or for iFixit to do their teardown. I would hope it's 2GB, but Apple is notoriously chintzy on RAM and storage.

According to reps on the actual demo floor of the event, the ipad 6s, 6s plus, and the apple tv have 2gbs of ram.

As you already know the ipad pro has 4 gbs of ram according to adobe.

It is likely but has not been officially confirmed that the ipad mini 4 has 2 gbs of ram like the ipad air 2 based off the information given in the keynotes, and the marketing of the apple website. We know it has the A8 chip like the iphone 6, the air 2 has the A8X chip which has an additional core and better graphics which according to apple the mini 4 does not have.

Yet it has the same 2 apps side by side which is called split view. The ipad mini 4 can do this just like the ipad air 2. The ipad mini 2 and ipad air 1 which still has a 64 bit chip but slower and less ram can only do picture n picture with video and some of the settings of an app by pulling the app to the side.

Actually running 2 apps at the same time is not supposed to occur with 1gb of memory without crashing and thus the older models do not have this feature according to apple. Thus based off the various information the ipad mini has 2gbs, and even anandtech says this but also says its not officially confirmed yet with the mini 4.

At this point I can't imagine it not being 2GB. Even if iOS9 could run things smoothly with 1GB, it would be really hard to justify not doing it, when all the new android flagships are 3gb or more, and the Pro with 4gb. An extra 1GB of lpddr3 or whatever isn't exactly going to break the bank for Apple anyhow

And it is not really about iOS, either. Even the almighty Apple does not govern the web, and cannot control 3rd party developers and user demands. No matter how efficient iOS might be, complex pages and multitasking increase the RAM needs.

But with the confirmation of 2GB, it seems to me the 6s/6s+ are shaping up to be worthy successors to the original now. 14nm A9 @1.7~1.8 GHz should score 2,100+/4,000+ ST/MT in Geekbench 3, and increased RAM will finally ease the common bottlenecks experienced on the previous iPhones. 1 GB of RAM would have been a travesty.

They still have 2013-style bezels (no surprise) and weigh a little too much (surprise). Not sure what is happening there because from what I have read the battery capacities did not increase.

The stronger aluminium and the more advanced taptic feedback + whatever is needed for the force touch screen. At least that's where I am assuming the extra weight comes from.

No battery increase, but 7000 series aluminium, a slightly thicker frame (at least on the 6s+) and the new touch capabilities add up. It's only something along the order of 2-3g though right?

But yeah, with 2GB RAM, the A9, much better photos, 4k recording, and general iOS9 improvements, the 6s/+ is looking more exciting to me than the 6/+ did.

I ordering my iPhone 6S+ after Thanksgiving for the "unlocked" version. It has many more radios then the new models now! Last year; it was so hard to get that I waited till mid February to buy one from the Apple Store. This time I try online order and see how long it will take? Not more then 3 weeks is my guess but never know!

Dunno if you're joking or not but...

iPhone 4S is 3.5" and has 512 MB. It is extremely painful to use in iOS 8 and iOS 9, mainly because of its RAM limitations.

2 GB is the sweet spot for both iOS 8 and iOS 9 IMO. 1 GB is bare minimum... Which is why I was disappointed Apple didn't go 2 GB across the board back in 2014.

If they had done that they would have given people less reason to upgrade this year. I'm sure that's the entire reason why we didn't see it in 2014. Get them to buy the new size one year, get them to buy the ram next year.

Are you saying 512MB wasn't the right amount of RAM when the iPhone 4 came out in June 2010? It certainly was the right amount -- and most flagship Android phones at the time had the same amount. The exceptions that had more were obscenely expensive.

Since the introduction of the iPhone, Apple dutifully doubled RAM every 2 product cycles -- until last year was the exception to that. Apple did 1GB last year because they thought they could get away with it and still get another year of market growth. It worked. Apple was right. 1GB was such a limitation, I'm upgrading again based on memory capacity alone.

1. People complain the 6 Plus isn't smooth. Dunno though how much of that is RAM vs CPU/GPU.
2. The iPhone 6 has the Safari tab reload problem. Hell, I even have it on my iPhone 5s, despite the fact the 5s has a much lower resolution than the 6. It's much less noticeable on the iPad Air 2, despite having a much higher resolution than the iPhone 6.

BTW, on the iPad front, only the 2 GB (and 4 GB) devices get Split View.
