512MB. Works just fine.
A little anecdote: yesteday a friend was browsing Crucial.com and made a remark about why some of the PC3200 was so cheap, at ~$48. I told him they were 256MB sticks. He's like, "Wait, my RAM was like $86. Oh, I remember, it's a 512MB stick." I told him that about 2 or 3 years ago, I was able to buy 256MB DDR sticks for $29 at Crucial, and with free shipping too! Yes, they were PC2100 sticks, but they run perfectly fine at PC2700 or even more.

Cliffsnotes: Ram is not really that cheap right now. I'm sticking to the 512MB that I have.

1 GB is more then what I can use for now.
I know it will be needed sometime in the future. So its a good investment.
thats if I don't upgrade my DDR

I remember spending over an hour inserting individual memory chips into the motherboard sockets to get myself all the way to 640K RAM. Those were the days. Had to be careful to get all the pins in the holes just right or one might bend and fold under the chip or bend out. Guaranteed to break when you tried to straighten it out again, too. And if one of them failed and you had to try to extract it, look out. Even with an IC extractor, it was sometimes nasty work.

Sorry, this thread triggered a bit of nostalgia

384 MB for home PC. I plan to pull the 128 MB and replace it with a 512 MB stick when prices have another big swing downward. 768 MB should be plenty for the rest of that computer's life.

Just got in laptop and desktop for work last week with 512 MB each.

I have 512 in my machine now but I plan on getting another 1GB soon. Since there is no option for 1.5GB I voted for 2GB.

I gotta say that I'm pretty suprised at the amount of people whom have 1GB or RAM. Even though this is an enthusiast board, and 512MB seems to be the accepted minimum nowadays, I'm still suprised.

I have 512MB of Kingston HyperX PC3700. It's good enough for me now. I'm just about to go to college here, so I can't really afford to blow more money on the comp.

I have 2x512MB right now with one slot available. I may add another 512 later on. Needs a 1.5GB option :)

The OP also said how much you plan on having, so it's not surprising that a lot of people want/plan to have 1GB.

I have 1x512 right now but will buy another stick when I have the money.

I plan on having at least 1GB of supurb quality RAM. It's pretty much the standard nowadays for the avid online gamer / multitasker.
