As soon as a product stops being mfg'd, it seems that China-sellers come out of the woodwork, to hawk those same products at grossly-inflated prices.

Don't count on getting one cheaper, unless it's used. Or AMD.

You will probably see the biggest price tank for last gen flagship...ever...here in Canada people are unloading 2080 ti FE for CAD$500...and that is cheap when converted to the mighty dollar....

Where are you seeing 2080ti for $500CDN used? I'd jump on one at that price considering 3080 will probably be around $950CDN and the 3090 will be $1800 or so.

Once the dust settles and 3070 is out, I could see it going that low. Right now on ebay they are around $700-$800 with bids on them.

I am wondering if there will be any price cut on 5700XT.
That would be sweet! I'm looking at 5700 / 5700 XT / 5600XT for mining ETH in the near-to-long term. I'm thinking though, an 8GB RX 5700 might be a better buy, longevity-wise, than a 5600 XT, just for the extra 2GB of VRAM. (DAG size grows every, what, 30,000 blocks or something? Maybe 300,000.)

The used market is already dropping fast, a nd I think it has a bit further to go before it settles.

I'm seeing 2080 TI's in the $400-$500 range, 2080 Supers in the $300 to $400 range, and 5700XTs spanning the $100-$300 range.

If the 3070 does actually edge out the 2080TI, and for $500 bucks, I can see the price settling around $400 unless scarcity kicks in and prices rebound.

All the cards above those price points are sitting with 0 bids.

Where are you seeing RX 5700 XT at around $100?
Completed listings show the most recently sold RX 5700 XTs at around $350, normal price.
RTX 2080 super $500+, lower than normal, but still holding value.
If you see a current auction listing at a very low price, they don't mean anything, most people start the auctions at $0.99

I fully expect RDNA cards to tank hard though. Lack of the RT acceleration found in the consoles is going to age them very quickly overnight.

I wonder if I should flip my 5700xt now? If I could get $300+ locally for it, that would put me in position for whatever we get in the $400-$500 range and I am drawing near to a year of use on it. $5 per month to have it seems reasonable. I could see it going to sub $200 fast, easily, in a few weeks - but if it's a few months I like having it now

The prices on ebay are not that low yet. In general, I've noticed that older high end hardware sells for a lot more than you would expect, even when it's outclassed by current midrange stuff. It's like the old stuff still has some halo effect that people are willing to pay for.

Also, it's sometimes better not to sell your old card at the same time as everyone else. You may actually get a better price if you wait until all the early upgraders have already sold off their cards.

Good advice. I have this 2080ti to offload now. So maybe right now before the 3000 series is available or wait a few months?

Well, the RX 5700/XT is an ETH monster, 50-53MH/sec, @ 110-120W.

As long as ETH is heading upwards, I don't expect prices on those cards to collapse.

Yep. I considered selling my 5700, but decided against it. I only paid $299.99 for it at Microcenter when they launched. Probably would get most of my money back, but then would have to purchase a replacement card. I don't really game much currently, but do want to play around with Zen 3 when it drops.

Rx 5300 just launched at 129 with 3gb memory.
You're kidding, right? 3GB of VRAM?

Even after AMD started a marketing push for 8GB of VRAM to ensure the "full experience" of games?

I could see 6GGB, but 3GB is absolutely DOA in today's market. Figures that OEMs would go for something THAT crippled.

There could be a debate made on whether 3GB is enough for 1080p or not like the controversial (but very popular) 1060 3GB. But I can definitely see a market for this although it should have been maybe $110.

- That's fair, but a lot of the sales that are completing now were initiated and likely bid on before the 3xxx series news dropped.

I've had lists of cards on watch for a while and it certainly looks like the velocity of bidding is slowing down a lot as the uncertainty of "am I really getting a deal or should I just wait" creeps in.

I think, once the new cards come out.. The Prices will drop around 50%..
Who in right mind buy a RTX2080 Super for $500+ right now? When RTX3070 is going to sell around $500 next month..

Well well well... My waiting game (since RX480) may finally pay off. After 4 long years I may finally get a cheap 5700XT upgrade at around $200... LOL

- You could say the same about the 2080Ti. It may have more RAM than the 3070, but its also a 2 year old release The entire RTX 2xxx line-up just got crushed into the sub-$500 bracket.
