How much power does a c2d system use?

Question: what is the actual power consumption of a complete overclocked c2d system?

My Specs:
1. 6300 C2D 1.2875V @ 2.8GHz
2. gigabyte ds3
3. ATI 1600 Pro PCI Express
4. 2X WDC 250 GB SATA drives
5. DVD RW IDE
6. TV tuner card
7. 3 case fans

I've seen some reviews of a system with graphics card much better than mine and uses less than 250 Watts of power for the entire system. But then there are people who would absolutely swear you need a 500+ watt PS for such OC.

You can't very accurately predict the power consumption when OC'ed as each CPU will be a bit different. Even if power consumption for the system is under 250 watts, you may still need to buy a 500-watt PSU to power it as those models will have the higher +12v amperage ratings needed to runhighly overclocked components stabley.

Here are the results I got with a system somewhat similiar to yours. I included the other video card results so you can get an idea of how much power they take.

Specs:

E6600@3.6GHz 1.42V
X-Fi Fatality
320GB Seagate sata drive
2GB Patriot PC5300
3- 120mmx38mm Sanyo Denki Fans
2- 80mm Thermaltake Smart Case II fans
600W Enhance PSU
50Z waterpump (only 8W draw)

Results:

7600GS

2.15A
258W at the wallplate
~180W draw from the components

X1900XT Crossfire

With cards at 710/840 1.525/1.15/1.15/1.5V

4.89A
586.7W at the wallplate
~440W draw from the components

8800GTX

3.28A
394W at the wallplate
~292W draw from the components

Even the Crossfire system could be handled by a good quality 500W PSU with a beefy 12V rail, although I wouldn't want to run it so near it's peak rating.

Great INFO!! Thanks a LOT!!! What's interesting is that 7600GS case requires SO LITTLE power!! actually even 8800 GTX isn't too bad either. The PS calculator suggested in earlier thread would say you need a 400 Watt supply to run 7600 GS config. But this shows that even a 350 can handle it pretty reasonably.

It suggested 400W for your system with a 7600GS...? That's weird. It only suggested around 285W for my system (see sig).
