This thread is different than others in that it takes into account the fuel efficiency of your car.

Current gas prices here are $2.09 for regular and $2.29 for premium. The Focus gets 25mpg, and the Mustang gets 12 (last time I checked).

So, the Focus costs $0.08 per mile in gas, and the Mustang costs $0.19 per mile in gas :(

Lets see, 99 Malibu LS with a 3100 V6.

Put in 7.911 gallons last fill up at $2.149 for a total of ~$17.00. Averaged 17.5 mpg (I love air conditioning).

So my cost is roughly $0.124 per mile in gas.

Lessee.....regular gas is about $1.60 and my Altima gets about 27mpg in mixed driving.

So.....that's about 6 cents per mile for me.

I just paid $1.55 for gas... gas mileage in the mid 30s... about 4 cents a mile.

Edit: I don't knwo what the prices are in the UK, but when I went to mainland Europe 6 or 7 years ago, they were paying as much for a liter as we were for a gallon. Ouch. That's why they all ride two-wheeled vehicles.

Cavalier- 6 miles round trip to work. All city'ish driving, so I have no clue.

An interesting question would be how much it costs you to drive to work each day.

6 miles x 8-10c a mile = 50-60 cents

At the moment it's 0.77 pounds for a litre. work that out into gallons (my metric ce non beuno) and divide by 25 ish

It costs me $0.07/mi. for gas. 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE, 1.6l engine, ~27 MPG in strictly city driving.

EDIT: average price here in Ann Arbor for gas is about $1.80 now. :(

Since I bought my A6 a little over a year ago I have averaged $0.10 per mile for 91/93 octane gas. The average price for a gallon of gas has been $1.63.

Just to be a smug bastard:

A gallon of gasoline contains about 31,000 calories. Cycling at 16-18mph (for someone my size) burns around 500-700 kcal per hour, so I'm burning the equivalent of .023 gallons per hour, or about .0013 gallons per mile.......this works out to 0.0021 dollars per mile.

Adding insult to injury, my mountain bike has 26-inch rims......bling, bling beotch!:p

Fuel: $1.54USD / gallon (diesel)
MPG (average tank/best tank): 56/64

Total cost (average tank/best tank): $0.0275 per mile / $0.0240625 per mile.

I win! :p

Do you mean a Mustange GT gets 12MPG? There is no way an LX gets that bad. Our family has two LX mustanges and they get 18 city and 23-29 HWY.

I drove to Florida 2x and calculated fuel efficiency every time I filled up so I'm an expert on emperical LX Mustange Fuel Efficiency :p
