I usually only get about 1 day a year... which is just what's required by law in my industry. Big whoop.

But I was selected to go on a nice 2 week paid training course here soon... made me wonder how much paid training most people get an average year.

I haven't gotten any official training. I would like some though.. easier than doing real work imo :)

About $5,000/year is set aside for me. This year I used most of it to go to Microsoft TechEd 2010 in New Orleans.

In my first 2 years on the job I've been to 5 different week-long training courses for various work related topics.

Depends on the money they have when I ask, but if I can justify it they'll most likely paid for me to go anywhere.

I get whatever I need. I've been working this job for 4 years now (year 5 starts in January), and I've never been denied a class. Since starting I've taken classes for MCSE (2003), HP EVA SAN, CCNA, SANS/GIAC, and I'm currently taking MCITP:EA classes. That being said, I do the vast majority of my training at night so that I don't miss work. It makes for long, exhausting, days...but IMO it's worth it.

It is not days/hrs, but I can select a single training /professional development activity each year.

State requires 40 hours of CLE each year. I usually do double the requirement.

One of my friends went to that. Said it was extremely hot.

Yeah, the humidity was absolutely insane - I was always either really warm or really cold (the cold a result of the extreme amount of A/C used indoors everywhere in the city).

3 days a month, plus some online training that I do when things are slow. They'll let us pick up any courses we want for the most part.

I haven't been here for a year yet, but I would say the department averages 40 days/year.

Usually 1-2 weeks, but it depends on budget constraints and what the company wants out of us... in the past, I've had 3+ weeks in a year, and I've had just a couple of short 1 day training sessions...

Aside from required training, none. Currently just annual powerpoints and online tests of the institution's policies.

I really should search out and request some training though.

paid whatnow?

other than when I first started this job and the random odd looking over someone's shoulder while they're doing something that I'm not familiar with, I've never received any official training time.
