Nope, you are incorrect, there is a 2.8 with 400mhz FSB. SL7EY 2.80 GHz 400 MHz 0.13 micron D1 512 KB 478 pin..strait from the Intel website..
In any case, a 3000+ will be faster than the 2.8 400mhz FSB in pretty much any task. If it was a 2.8c I would just overclock it, but older P4's that don't have hyperthreading just don't compare. I can't stand using my P4's with HT turned off, they feel sluggish.
OP if you are refering to performance in games, it probaby won't be much differant, since the video card is the primary limiter, unless you are running at 1024x768 or less, in which case the CPU will start to make more of a differance, and the A64 will be a decent bit faster.
