How much of a performance improvement will this do?

Here are the three systems I want to compare:

Intel 845WN mobo - P4 1.7ghz - ATI Radeon VE - 576 MB SDRAM PC133 - 20 Gig Maxtor 7200 RPM - 60 Gig WD 5400 RPM

P4 865 PE (Springdale) - P4 1.7ghz - ATI Radeon VE - 576 MB DDR 400 Ram - 20 Gig Maxtor 7200 RPM - 60 Gig WD 5400RPM

P4 865 PE (Springdale) - P4 1.7ghz - ATI Radeon 9700 Pro AIW - 576 MB DDR 400 Ram - 20 Gig Maxtor 7200 RPM - 60 Gig WD 5400 RPM

Yes, I know my video card sucks but I haven't been playing games that much.

I also want to know what memory brand to go with for DDR Ram. I'm not going to try and save money on the RAM so I'm ready to a premium. I'm not much of an overclocker so I don't need anything too fancy. I like that thing (is it a heat spreader?) on the Corsair XMS series, I think it looks neat. Will Corsair give me more performance for the same specs like both being 3200 compared to Crucial or Samsung?

Also, once I get the 9700Pro AIW, will I need any special cooling on my case? Until now, I've only had a fan on the cpu, the one or two that come on the power supply, and I added one more on the rear end when I added the 60 gig. So pretty much, only 2 fans, one being on the rear end of the case and one on the cpu. The fan in the rear doesn't seem really powerfull either and so my system is pretty quiet.

are you planning on video editing? the AIW is used to record video. just get a 9700 if your not.
heat spreaders arnt really needed unless you overclock (RAM doesnt get very hot)
is that 512 MB RAM or 576? 576 isn't a normal size.

oh yeah, no games, what do you want to use the system for?

Pentium 4 with PC133 = bad idea

Springdale... no reviews to judge by, so this is a hard one to answer. Add ~10% to the performance of Granite Bay and squint, maybe :D

Why the 1.7GHz P4? That's a Williamette core, handicapped badly compared to the Northwood core.

5400rpm drives... 7200 is desirable if you want better performance.

Well, in the summer I will play games since I'll have summer vacation from school... 10 weeks!

I has 2x 256mb and 1x 64

And yes I will need the AIW so I can take home videos and put them onto a digital format. I use the 5400rpm for storage. The 7200rpm is for programs, OS, documents, etc. I have the 1.7 because well to make the lo ng story short, December of 2001 I got it and I knew little at the time, I also think its "enough" for me. I don't have a need for more speed. Also, I may upgrade to a 2.4ghz 800mhzFSB with HT in a few months once they're out, but I'm not sure. 10% for all that? I know the video card is gonna change a lot of it cause I get lower than 1500 on 3Dmark 2001SE! My cpu alone on software mode scores higher for crying out loud... thats worse than a bottle neck, I don't even know why I use the card except to my desktop.

Then you're done :D Just keep using your existing system, if you don't have a need for more speed, and get that new 9700 AIW so you can do your video work.
