Many places around here still have a cash discount... And they also happen to be totally craptastic in that they PUT THE CASH PRICE ON THE DAMN SIGNS (and only one place has "cash price" actually on the sign)

You have to pay close attention to the price on the pump...

If it makes you happy, waggly, discover and American Express permit it, even as extra fees except in states that have laws expressly prohibiting it. Mastercard allows it only so long as the same applies to all credit card transaction( as a cash discount, that is) and, again, except in states that have laws expressly prohibiting it. VISA prohibits anything the resembles a surcharge for credit card transactions, including so called cash discounts, anywhere.

Just to clear up your misunderstanding, please refer to page 10 in This PDF which outlines Visa's rules for merchants. On page 10, it says "you may not impose any surcharge on a Visa transaction. You may, however, offer a discount for cash transactions, provided that the offer is clearly disclosed to customers and the cash price is presented as a discount from the standard price charged for all other forms of payment.

heh

I'm really contemplating resurrecting Kelvrick's Dumbasses for this thread.

yeap for those that are argueing its against the rules and calling people names (such as you) when they are right. heh

Yes, I call people names, but when was he right? See his post above where he admits that he was wrong.

he was not right. thats my point.

he said it was against the TOS because they were surcharge. point is they are not surchargs.

as i stated they would not get in trouble with that rule because they were not adding on a surcharge to CC payments.
