How much noise does a 9800 Pro Stock produce?

I've been silencing everything in the PC, and the 9800 Pro seems to be the loudest thing in the box. I've ordered an AC VGA Silencer, but does anyone know how loud these things actually are? According to the finger test, everything is relatively silent except the 9800Pro...and that includes the 120MM case fans.

The fan is very loud on the 9800. I have the same card and also put the VGA silencer on it. I could notice the noise drop dramatically. The motherboard fan can be noisy sometimes, if you have one. I personally do on my AN7 and would like to put a passive cooler on it, but I don't feel like ripping out the motherboard to do it.

Yeah, the idle 9800 seems louder than the 6800GT under load. That stupid Abit board that I have has the oetes(sp?) thing that makes noise as well, and theres an additional chipset fan. I'm not overclocking so I'm gonna remove all that crap, or at the very least replace the fans with low dB fans. The noise never really bothered me before, but two A64 systems with 9800P and 6800GT are starting to wear on my nerves.

Anyone know the actual dB numbers produced by the 9800 Pro?

hm, weird, I dont think my 9800 Pro is loud at all.. when I get home I'll try stopping the fan for a sec and see (I've never tried that, so)

I don't complain about the noise my PC makes at all, so I don't think it's too loud. in terms of dB, no idea 😛
