I'm guessing his next question will be, "What kind of vehicle would be able to yank an ATM out of the wall of a bank?"

Not including deposits and freshly filled. About 30K on the ones at the bank I used to work at.

Actually no... the reason I thought of this question was becuase there was an article on robbers hot-wiring forklifts at construction sites to yank the ATMs out. Then I thought "wow thats a lot of effort... how much is in those things?"

It can't be $50K or even $100K Thats WAY too much. Think about it. At $40 a pop thats 2500 transactions in a day. I just don't see that.

Who withdrawls only 40 bucks? I get $400 from the ATM every time I go, otherwise I'd be going to the ATM every two-three days instead of every two weeks.

I'd guess....

$20 per transaction x 10 transaction per day x 14 days before it get filled = $2800

This would be at a remote location. At a bank, it'd surely be much greater.

I have a couple hundred on me. I usually withdraw $100-200 at a time.

I remember seeing a video of thieves ramming their pickup truck into a convenience store, then loading the atm machine into the truck and getting away.

And then they get arrested when they try to spend the burnt money.

They cut the box open with an oxyacetylene outfit and torched the money too!

Exactly, I haven't carried more than $20 on me at a time in years. The only reason I even carry that is for vending machines and for giving coworkers money to cover my lunch.
