How much money do you see yourself realistically making ten years from now?

Due to my work-related injury taking me out of my trade after 30 yrs, I'll probably be retured and collecting my union pension of about $4K/month, PLUS social security of about $1800/month. IIRC, my annuity and 401K' will start paying off in about 13 yrs, unless I want to take the IRS early-withdrawl penalties...I MIGHT have some pension or extra 401k's if I get the voc-rehab training they've been talking about. Time will tell on that one...

10 years? I'll be maxed out in step raises and more than likely will also be seeing at least 10-15% in raises on top of that from the sheriffs office. 70-80k.

Im 20 and a Real Estate agent right now. I sell my dads houses since he is a builder. I will make arounf $130,000 this year and in 10 years want to be making around $2 million a year. I will build home and sell them by myself with my real estate liscence.

Assuming everything goes *perfectly* and I get hired where I aim, I should be making 200-400k salary and anywhere from 30-100k/yr from investments.

Assuming even fairly bad luck, I should be making 80-100k/yr ten years out.

Either I'm in the wrong line of work, or there are a shitton of people on here that lie to themselves and others.

lol.. maybe a bit of both? You are a deputy? As far as I know, you can make more than 80k if you are willing to work over time?

As far as my projections, I will be a lawyer, and starting salaries range from 40k-150k. Ten years out, most are making 80-500k. I also have a solid investment plan assuming I can make it into the upper range of those figures. Still, I'll need a bit of luck, as we all do 😉

The money is only good in law if you go to a T14.

that's not even including bonuses... if you work at a large law firm, you're looking around 150-250k starting with bonuses included.

Well, yes and no. I will be going to a T20, and I have a few connections once I get out. Salaries at Yale might be higher, but don't believe everything you read on XOXOHTH, k?

I am sure you didn't enter into public service thinking it was a cash cow. Money isn't everything. If I am making $40-$50k a year now, when I get my degree, I don't see it unreasonable for me to be making >$100k. If I don't, I am not going to worry about it or break down. It isn't a goal of mine to be making X amount in X years. It is fun to project though.

Range could be huge...

I'm 25 and making fairly decent money now but am planning on a career change in about a year (See this thread)

It could be anywhere from low-$40k's to $100k. Not only that, I could be as much as $100k in debt. 🙁

If I end up where I think I'll probably end up, that position paid $500k to $750k this past year.

If everything comes together just right, I'd rather be doing something more entrepreneurial even if it pays a fraction of that, but that could turn out to be a pipe dream.

That board is a little abrasive, but they are often honest on most accounts, albeit brutally honest.

I am a teacher, so 40,000 to start and in ten years about 70,000. Woohoo, big money, would be even better withoutt educational debt incurred to get to this point.

I got a job offer for 45K+bonus out of college. Some peoplethought it was too low... I thought I was doing alright too for a non-engineering/non-medical degree.

So with 10 years of experience...definitely 100K+

what was the job
and what was your degree in?

Probably around $50k..maybe $60k. But the benefits will more than make up for it. Assuming I stay with the planned employer I'd be banking over 30 days a year in vacation and another 30 sick days a year.

I plan to have some other income earning investments set up by then that will provide some long term asset appreciation and some monthly cash flow to add to our full time income.
