Just a curiosity as to how much ATOT'ers save.

Edit: By "save" I mean how much money YOU set aside. IOW, company contributions and interest/gains from investments do not count, but money you have taken from your paycheck to be put into your 401k does count.

edit: fixed overlap.

I don't save any money. I don't make enough to save.
But I always have money in the bank. I just spend it eventually.

change the poll so that its like 50-99, 100-249...i save $100/month (~15% of my pay), so I dunno which to put it under. I think a lot of people probably save a round number like that and when the figure happens to fall in 2 categories it makes it hard which to pick.

Remember, a good number of people here probably work professional jobs, and are unmarried living in apartments. If I was unmarried living in an apartment, I'd probably be able to stash away 75% of my income. I'm married with a kid, on a single income. Fortunately, I currently have a very good full time job and part time professional job that supplements my regular salary almost 60%. That wont last forever though, and once it's gone, I'll likely be sub $1000 again.

College student. What I make, I spend. But I do have some savings in the bank that I haven't touched in months. I just haven't added to them in quite a while.

I put them in the same category (saving/investing)...Guess I should differentiate, though.

So, I invest about 30% of my paycheck every two weeks.:Q

~40% currently.

I'm trying to figure out how to cut back my spending and bring that up to 50%. But once I buy a house, that figure will decrease.

It depends, but I try to save at least $300 a month. For example, I saved $3,000 in last month and a half. There is no way I can keep up that pace, since I have some large expenses coming up. I would say average of $500 a month.

If I was married, we'd have dual income, be settled and putting money towards equity of a house

I'm single - I throw away money at rent to live in a nice, expensive, busy, lively part of town
