I've no income, currently. I've got no problems telling people I've only $50 in my piggy bank. My friends on the other hand simply tell me they don't have much. What the hell is that? I asked for a figure and that's the reply I get.

Why are these people so defensive? The only obvious reason I see is they don't want me to know how fatter their piggy bank is than mine.

As others have said it is common knowledge that asking or telling is very rude. It's about the rudest thing you can say out side of asking a pudgy girl "when's the baby due?"

Nothing good can come from telling or asking. Nothing.

To be honest. I make around a £31k basic salary (Not sure on the equivalent in US dollars).

I also receive the following company benefits:

Company car ? BMW 330CI 2006
Company fuel card
Company mobile phone
Company PDA
Two company laptops. One which is a Core Duo Dell 17inch. The other a Celeron M basic Toshiba.

And the ability to blag a lot of stuff on my expenses :p.

I'm 24 years old, 25 in feb. I'm a Project Manager, with most of my dealings on government contracts.
Explains the perks...lol

My company gives me nothing extra. Just the $62k salary and I'm 23. :)

Yeah its pretty cool having a moderate level of security clearance, you get to meet the top people that are in the forces when visiting various different military sites. I do most of my work on MoD contracts, where the serious money is.

$62k, that must be pretty decent wage over in the US I would have thought. I don?t know what my wage would equal over in the states. I know the exchange rate is nothing to go by however.

:)
According to Google's conversion factor you make 59,048 US dollars per year.
Depends on where you live as well.
$60k in NY, Cali is utterly useless.
$60k here is really quite good.

After rent, insurance, car, food, services, etc. I save $2k a month. ($24k a year)
Keep in mind I don't have to pay for health insurance, I have one of the nicest appts in the city and costs only $640 in rent. A nice house here is ~$200k.

Sure you can knock a measly $2k off my pay due to currency conversion...but cost of living is far more influential in your compensation.

Yes that?s very true. If I were to look at residence in London, I would probably have to live in a shed on a little plot of land on the outskirts, lol.

Where as ATM I live on what we call the M4 corridor. Basically i reside in a large town just off one of the main motorways that ends in central London. So when I have work within London, I can commute. Although most of the time I am put up in accommodation, because daily travel time takes up too much of the day.

I don't think i would like to live in London anyway.

450 per week, when I was on unemployment.
That's just a hair less than what I make working full time. :(:(
$450 per week x 52 weeks = $23,400
or $11.25 /hr
Making less than that could happen :p

at my age, I don't see a problem with that one. Unless you dont consider mid-20s females a woman..someone that's 21-23 is datable for me (22), but a 26-30 probably wouldn't..and you cant tell by looking

I make $438.11 every two weeks for 20 hours/week (salary pay) after taxes and crap are taken out. I work for my parents (I'm still in college), and I realistically average 10-15 hours per week that I actually work, so I figure I make $15-$20 an hour or so.

It's VERY rude. A friend of mine from high school used to ask me EVERY SINGLE TIME we ran into each other:

"Hey man how you doin?"
"Pretty good how much money to you make?"
""

It's rude because it's none of your fscking business.

Depends. You obviously don't ask your co-workers, as it makes you or them feel uneasy. But your buddies or say your siblings, I doubt it's much of an issue.
