I've been trying to decide whether I should do that very thing or not. I'm not sure how much $ I could get for this Mushkin DDR400 RAM I've already got. Whatever I get from that, I could put towards the DDR500 RAM, and then have a better overclock. The only thing is, even when I underclock my RAM so that its not the bottleneck anymore, my CPU gives me the "blue screen of death" at 3.5 GHz when running Prime95. I'm not sure if its because I don't have enough wattage flowing to it (400-watt Antec), if the V-Core just needs to be increased some, or if I just have a not so good overclocking CPU.

Even if your running with async ram I still had stability problems when running PC 3200 ram with an overclocked CPU. I tried XMS, Value Select, other variations of corsair ram all PC 3200 and I still wasnt able to overclock when sync or async. The only way I was able to overclock was to get PC 4000 ram, now I have a overclock of 50MHZ FSB (200 default) running in sync. ASYNC for me anyways usually doesn't help, I've even tried running a mobile AMD with PC 3200 ram CORSAIR XMS in ASYNC when overclocking past 200 but it didn't increase overclocking potential and yes I had VERY RELAXED timings and correct ram voltage.

some of my best overclocks so far:

P4 1.60A @ 2600 MHz = 62.5% OC (Epox 4G4A+ Mobo)
P4 2.40B @ 3400 MHz = 41.66% OC (Abit BH7 Mobo)
AMD AXP 1700+ (1.47GHz) @ 2400 MHz = 63.27% OC (Abit NF7S v2.0 mobo)
AMD AXP 1800+ (1.53GHz) @ 2500 MHz = 63.40% OC (Abit NF7S v2.0 mobo)
P4 2.4C @ 3200 MHz = 33.33% OC (Abit IC7-G Mobo)

Current:
AMD A64 3200+ (2.20 Ghz) @ 2420 MHz = 10% OC (i know..i know... but this is using default voltage with stock hsf)

I loved the old days of 60% + OCs...hope those days will come back soon.

What's default speed of a, mobile 2400, mobile 2600 and a Axp 1700?

I have a mobile at 2700mhz and had, once upon a time, a AXP @ 2465. Run another mobile@2340 and A64@2560...

Basically I don't know defaults to calculate...sorry.:(

Tbird 1200@1400 = 16%
Palomino 1400@1500 = 7%
Tbred 1700@2465 = 68%!!!! <<winner
Pentium 4 2.4 @3100 = 29%
Mobile 2400@2340 = 30%
Mobile 2600@2700 = 35%
A643000@2560 = 28%

Bad zebo, beating me.

Ok. My chip is stable to 230 if I slacken mem timings and give it 1.6vcore. 3900mhz for ~72% overclock. I win ;)

Well...

That was my first water rig. AND 2.2Vcore!!! Who cares right @ $55:);) I made the mistake of buying a swiftech kit which is great for cooling but loud as a tornado fan. After that time I've made custom kits with very low rpm 5V 120mm fans and large heater cores. They offer less performance but are silent and good for better than any air overclock. Anyway I fried it unfortunatly but for 6 months I was pretty happy with the value it provided.

2.2 @ 2.45. This stupid mobo won't lemme go anyhighier without crashing prime95. I am pretty unimpressed. I went from my 1466MHz @ 2.4GHz to this. The 1700 would have gone MUCH highier if I had good ram back then too :(

Athlon 2400+ 2 ghz to 2.2 ghz (200x11). that's 10%. I'm sure it could do better, but I'm on a budget A7N8X-X, so I'm happy.

Looks like 40% here .... AMD 2400+M ( stock: 1.8GHz ) / ( overclocked: 2.4GHz )

Hope I did the math right.
