How much is the total you have to pay DMV annually?

here in missouri i paid ~$200 for initial registration including personalized license plate ($15), but what really gets me though is the tax. Oh, we also have to do state safety inspection ($12) and emission testing (~$25). Then the registration cost depends on the value of the car and how big is the engine. I short, it's too much!

It also heavily depends upon the county. My Explorer is registered in the county that I live in. My mustang(even though it has a higher value) is actually cheaper because it is registered in the rural county that my parents live in. I am talking dramatically cheaper. By several hundred bucks.

More or less, yes and no. If you can't afford the taxes associated with the car, then you really can't afford the car. Complaining about the taxes won't do a whole lot of good. It seems rather illogical to me to but an expensive car when an extra $1000/year would then be a huge financial burden. How much did you plan to pay per year on the car? I'm sure the $1000 isn't more than 15% of your annual car payments. It seems to me that it would make sense to buy a somewhat less expensive - but still very nice - car, like a Nissan Maxima or something in that class. It's kind of vain to work so hard just so you can buy an expensive car.

If the VLF was a one time thing then I can deal with it. But this is an annual thing. My friend lives in New York and he doesn't have to pay for such fee(VLF) You have to really look into the reason or logic behind VLF. For example Joe drives a 1985 Toyota Corolla(with coolant and oil leaking at every parking lot and black fume coming out the exhaust) and John drives a 2003 BMW. Joe & John both work at the same company and receive the same pay. Joe has to drive 45 miles to work and John only drives about 5 miles to work. Yet, John pays $900 more a year because he drives a newer/better car and also occupies less "street time". See any logic in that? What's next? The electric company charging you more base on the price of your computer because you're running a P4 2.4Ghz instead of a 286 33MHZ? How about charging you more per month for electricity base on the price of your TV because you have a 40" HDTV rather than a 14" TV?

Sounds to me like it's essentially a luxury tax. Taxing the rich a little more than the poor isn't all that bad.

The fvck it isn't! WTF is it fair to tax someone more because they are successful? That is most certainly not fair. By your logic it wouldn't be a crime for me to steal from Walmart because they are so successful. I hate people who want the rich to be robbed blind by taxes. STFU.

a. The poor can't AFFORD as much of a tax burder as the rich.
b. The rich have all of the POWER, which lets them become MORE rich. The poor have no power.
c. Are you heartless? I'm not talking about the rich paying 70% income taxes, I'm talking about a little luxury tax. Is it really so wrong for the rich to pay a little extra to make life a little better for the less fortunate? I'm not talking about socialism/communism! In case you hadn't noticed, the rich DO pay higher income tax rates than the poor, and it hasn't driven those rich people into the poor house yet.
d. There are other taxes in which the poor have a larger burdern than the rich. Take sales tax - because the poor spend a larger percentage of their income, the percentage of their income accounted for by sales tax is greater than for the rich.

Look at that, I managed to get through all that without swearing and telling you to STFU. 🙂

a. Did I ever say they should pay a higher percentage of income? Fvck no. Flat tax.
b. Point being? What was this little anecdote about here? I am not aware of the power structure of our nation?
c. No, I am not. Yes, it is wrong. Yes you are talking about socialism. Yes, I have noticed considering I have to pay way to fvcking much. Listen buddy, I donate tons of money a year to charities and other people. I don't need to have the government take it from me.
d. The tax burden there isn't any higher. Everyone pays the same percentage. Sales tax is a good tax.

"Look at that, I managed to get through all that without swearing and telling you to STFU. "

Ignorance is bliss. Secondly, people who want to ROB the middle class and rich piss me off. Move somewhere else if you want redistribution of wealth.

P.S.- STFU.
