here in MS, its soooooo fv(king ridiculous. I paid 490 for a toyota pick-up. :|

In LA, i think its just 50 bux (for 2 yrs.)

I think it was right around 280 for my '02 F-150.

That's considered an Ad Valorem tax though, which is deductible on your taxes. Still sucks to have to pay it every year though.

*Edit - forgot to add, I'm in Metro Atlanta.

$78 for a regular car. i paid $238 (iirc) for my truck because the GVWR is huge, and i did not want to get a ticket if I ever decide to pull a house down the street.

For the Commonwealth of Virginia the fees are $30.50 per year for 4000 Lbs and under, $35.50 for 4001 Lbs or greater for state plates.

$340/this year (drops a little each year) for a '97 Expedition in Las Vegas. We have no state income tax though.

In TN, I paid $31 for a new tag for my Buick LeSabre. That was for the year. No emissions or anything else.

The renewal fee is $21, plus $2 if you do it by mail.

When was this? I also am from MN and they changed the fee. I'm just wondering how they arrived at $112 I thought it was going to be a flat fee.

For everyone else, we just got lucky here a couple years ago. When I bought my '99 Cavalier Z24 in well, '99 it was like $275!!! And future years were based on the age of the car. Then they passed a law that it was going to be a flat $75, I thought. We renew every year and a few months ago I paid $90

Much better than:
$275 year 0 🙂
$225 year 1
etc..

Ouch! :Q

$188.85 for my '98 Corolla, IIRC..including about 7 bucks sales tax. 😛

Too expensive...it would've been cheaper for me to run temp tags for three years! Unfortunately, they only let people have two...

But...I'm moving..out of state, of course. So, this cost me nearly 200 bucks..and I'm going to have to do it again. I hope Ohio isn't too expensive..

In my state, Nebraska, each year we pay roughly $50 + 2% of the value of the average car with your make and model. It doesn't go off of your car's actual value, just the average (otherwise they'd be swamped with people claiming their car is worth a lot less than it is).

Thus for a relatively new car it often runs $200-$500 per year.

If I am not mistaken, in GA it is based on the value of the car. I paid just under $200 for my 2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES in July.

I pay around $80 per year for my Altima, since it's not worth squat any more. I think $25 of that is the actual tag fee, the rest is ad valorum.

About $350 for my '00 Passat.

Uhg!

I about pooped a brick when I registered a car for the first time in Iowa. I was used to paying $48 a plate in Illinois, then went to paying over $300. Poo on that!

I heard that. Michigan does it by curb weight. It was MUCH cheaper in MI. Stupid Atlanta. 😀
