18,000 x 10 does not equal 18,000, nor does it equal 150,000.

18,000 x 10 equals 180,000.

:p
and I make about an average around $1500
Jeesus dizzam, you can't read for sh!t :)
$1500 x 120 = $150,000 not $180,000

Ahhh, but I digress.

He said $1500 a month.

And someone suggested 10 times what he makes a year.

$1500 x 12 (remember, 12 months in a year!) = $18,000.

$18,000 x 10 = 180,000.

Who can't read now biatch?

:p:D

edit: besides, $1500 x 120 = $180,000 anyway.

LOL, What kind of calculator did you use MrCodedude?

MrCodeDude = PWNED

Has it consistely made roughly $1500/m for the past year? If so, I would say $12,000 - $15,000

That is a realistic figure IMHO. Remember -- the .com bomb is over.

I guess it depends on how much time and effort it takes to run that site. If it is easy for you to do, then maybe you should keep it. If you puts lots of hours into it, then maybe you can consider cashing out.

btw, your site is one of the first I look at when I'm looking for coupons and stuff. Keep up the good work.

wow, that is very, very low.

Again, even assuming that less than half of the 1500 a month is profit (see my post above), you would be selling the site for about a year and a half's worth of profit. Meaning that in 24 months or so the buyer would have already recouped his expense (this is ignoring any discounting of profit).

I'd imagine no one really has $180,000 to just spend on a site...

Definitely negotiate with him though, just front him with $200,000 and go down ;)

why not? It's a business like any other. If you can show good, sustainable growth, then it seems like a very geed investment. Granted, any "fair value" you calculate has to be significantly discounted for the fact that ownership in this site will be very hard to liquidate or market (ie, to sell to someone else).

For instance, from my post above, the value of just the cash coming in (assuming some constant growth for simplicity) was around 150,000. This would be in an "ideal" world. In reality, who ever buys your site will have a terribly hard time trying to sell it to someone else should the need arise. Becuase of this, they will probably require a huge discount (ie, around 30-40%) for this lack of liquidity.

That would put the value at closer to $100,000. Still not a bad sum for a webpage.

your assets are basically your labor. how much time do you spend editing it everyday?

$1500 a month is $50 a day. After salary, the business isn't even making money if you spend 3 hours a day or more @$15/hr. You'd never get $150k, maybe 50 or 75k imo.

No way, that's WAY too low. yes, the .com bomb is over, but the ones that are around still are the ones that are known to be successful.

Still, $150k seems an awful lot for a site that only makes $1500 a month. That means even if the buyer can double the profits, it's still going to take 5 years before he breaks even? I know i wouldn't buy such a business.

There are two more pieces of information that you forgot to tell us about. How many hours a week do you spend maintaining your site? You can't look at these cash flows like you would a security. There's an opportunity cost of time. Also, what kind of earnings growth have you experienced in the past 2 years?

Assuming 0 hours spent working on your site, 0 earnings growth, and a discount factor of 15%, your site would be worth $120,000 (=$1500*12/.15).

For comparision, medical practices usually go for however much money the doctor makes in a year.

i would agree, esp. based on the fact that your getting more hits each month, which makes your site that much more attractive
