Im running a Athlon xp 2400 at stock with a cheap coolermaster HSF. my case (xaser 3) reads at 35C on the motherboard, and 26.1 on my fan controller, but my CPU is at 53 (Only web browsing and music going on) I know this is in spec, but isnt it a little high for the temp case?

it is high in most people on this boards eyes, but yes it is normal for a stock fan or equivalent.

Actually, you probably have temps that are out of spec (according to tech doc 23794). AMD calls for a difference in temps between ambient and case temps (measured "approximately 0.5 inch to 1.0 inch away from the proccessor fan") of less than or equal to 7C "to ensure proper cooling".

So depending on where that case reading is being measured and if it's accurate, you should probably get it lower.
