So I was taking off my OEM AMD fan/heatsink. I ripped it out. It took the chip with it. I then had to pry the chip from the heatsink. Some of the prongs on the chip were bent. I tried to bend them back to a straight position. I put the chip back in then used the motherboard lockign mechanism. Now when I turn the computer on the power comes on but nothing get sent to the screen.
Did I break the cpu, the motherboard, or both? Any risk of anything else being broken?
If I broke the CPU, what is the best bang for my buck for a 939 socket?
How are you supposed to get the fan off the chip when there is thermal paste gluing the two together and the heatsink is blocking the cpu latch/lock? Thanks.
So apparently straightening the edges and shoving the cpu back into the mobo in such a way that it 'clicked' fixed everything
