There's a reason P&N has it's own forum. Those threads too often devolve into flamefests.
My point about this being flamebait has nothing to do with me feeling like I'm being preached to - it's more about being an effective place to post what you want to post. There's a lot of ill will being generated here - and that's hopefully NOT what the OP had in mind. When I start seeing 98% of entertainment threads going down in flames, I'll stand up for an Entertainment subforum.
I'm secure in what I believe in as well - and it's only when other people insist smugly that their point of view is the right one beyond any question, and post about it on a message board that has nothing to do with religion, that I get annoyed. The reason you've never felt like anyone was trying to convert you is that no one but Christians post this sort of thing here.
As for being ultra-sensitive to religion? Yeah, I might be. I grew up in a place where being strong-minded enough question the church put me in a minority of one - and consequently grew up being often reminded, many times with detail, about exactly how I'd suffer in Hell. Someone mentioned the tolerant left early in the thread - it's something of a new fad for anyone with a religion to be tolerant of anything, anywhere that doesn't fit what their ayatollah told them.
That said, I think a healthy spiritual life can be a great thing for people. There's a lot of security in faith in God. Religions have come a long way in this country in terms of tolerance - but that paradigm shift came from the people in them, not from church leadership.
Still, my insistence that this post was flamebait has everything to do with the normal reaction of this forum and nothing to do my personal prejudices.

Not to mention they're non violent. You don't see any suicide otte-bombers screaming "SCIENCE BE PRAISED" before they blow themselves up.
