How much for Mercedes service?

I am looking at possibly getting a Mercedes 380SL as my first car, and I was wondering if anyone could let me know how much an Oil change or other basic service is at either dealers or other places might be. Thanks if you have any help.

Lol yeah I wish i had 85k for my first car. Its a 1985 380SL, they dont even make them anymore. Its the classic roadster style they made since 1972 and peole like Bobby Ewing in Dallas had one like the body style of this one.
 
IMO, don't even buy it.

The service cost is huge for MB. When I say "service" here, meaning the car broke down or something like change break pad (about $700 for newer model), break and transmission fluid (since this is 10 yr+ car, best to change initially when you gets it. Run you about $300 dealer)... stuff like that.

But if you are talking about oil change ONLY, that's about $50 bucks every 3000/miles.

At last, it really depends on the condition of the car itself. If it was a collector's item. That's different story. Also, if you purchase from MB dealer, that's another story too.

Remember don't be fool by the exterior look of the car! Dig into the interior and "test-race", not "test-drive", it for as long as you can before you making the purchase.

That goes for Hyundai and it's 100,000-Mile, 10-Year warranty too, no?

My father-in-law always wanted a Mercedes, so he bought a 1975, decent sized four door. I have no idea what model. He bought it before 1981. It needed a radiator. That part alone was $300.00. It needed a water pump. That was $150.00. The exhaust was noisy, but I don't know if he got that repaired or not. Rust was creeping in here and there. I tried to help him change spark plugs, but the damn things were seized in the aluminum head, so I didn't force them. I guess he either left those in or had somebody else pull them out. He only kept the car about a year. It was not particularly smooth running, quiet or anything else to brag about. I don't think he's desired a Mercedes since!
 
If you have to ask, you can't afford it!

For instance in the manual it is recommended you flush the brake system at every major service interval.....about every 15,000 miles...the Dealer get's $350 just for that!

on ahyundai you have to pay for wiper blades and oil changes, new tires and brakes, and a rental car if your car is in the shop for any reason, MB will give you a loaner and you'll never to pay for wear in tear for 4 years and some dealers even have other perks one in LA has a free car wash and wax and while your car is getting done you can get a manicure/pedicure and/or chair massage while you wait.

No. You're talking about a warranty. You still have to pay for your regular maintenance, oil changes, etc. With a new Mercedes, you do not.
 
Many things on a Mercedes must be done at the dealer b/c of specialized tools; even normally "ordinary" things like normal AT service.
You will be paying big money for service and repairs. Unless you have a big head trying to make an impression via your Mercedes, find another car.

guys, i checked the MB website and they dont exactly make a new 380sl. hes probly getting a hand me down and wants to know what hes getting into

ie: hes going to spen $5 a month for a quart of oil or hes going to make his mechanic's boat payment

Thanks for all the input guys, I decided not to get ther car. I got the VIN and ran a carfax and it has failed emissions at least 5 times in the past 8 years so that is out. Time to go shopping again.
