Yap 5 years this CPU is going strong ,,, @ 3.7Ghz until mobo died, no warranty,,,,,,, had to buy used P5k and its mesed up big time cant touch OC section except for multi and FSB ,, I dont even know what ram voltage it put it on.. anyhow. I use Sonar X2 which is why I want to get a 6 core. Each thread will be fast and powerful to handle as many real time synths and vsti dxi like literally 100 tracks all computer generation sound plus 100 plugins.
To give you idea right now on a project if I have 14 tracks playing in real time not bounced to wave,, plus Waves Mercury Plugins and other VSti and DXi and pus about 30 plugins and Im @ 85 to 90 percent CPU usage.
If I put a Haswell top of line 1k processor 4.8Ghz. How many tracks can I do if Q6 you do 14 traks and plugins its 90 percent,, what will a current GEN CPU allow me to do because Im working on big projects and I have to freeze the track,, make a wave file out of it,, so it relieves the CPU ,,,,
with a new cpu I can do 150 plugins and 50 tracks ? Is it going to give me that much more power
