What kind of temps do you have typically?

A lot of people with high electric bills are leaking electricity. I know I was. After I isolated the offending circuit and fixing it my electric bills dropped significantly.

In the summer normally up to 85 this summer above 100 for weeks. Luckily Temps are back in the 80's this week....
From Septemebr on it will prolly get steadily colder, hit the 30-40s around Oct/Nov, maybe hit the 20's or below in Jan Feb and heat back up after that

Millenium lives down in the south. It can get mind-numbingly hot there. I was in Chalmette, LA one day and it was 108°F with 100% humidity. That's a heat index of approximately 235°F or 112.7°C. This is in a gas station parking lot. My friend measured the temps on a roof he was working on. It was 150°F with a heat index of, according to this, 802°F or 426°C.

I've gotten sick from mowing the lawn for 10 minutes in the summer. It gets really hot down there. ;)

My God I always thaught California is nice, but seriously I could not live in such heat - having around 100+°F for 4 weeks was killing me (and my productivity)

$250-$300 right now. It's kind of ridiculous, because there are only two people living in this house right now (me and my mom), which has three bedrooms and 2 baths (I'm not sure about sq. footage, I think something like 2500 sq. ft.), a bonus room, an extra room downstairs, a pool (which we never use, but costs money to maintain & electricity to pump), etc. Plus, we're in southern CA, so now we're running the AC quite often, which pushes up the price as well. Plus my computer sucks energy pretty well, and I use it pretty often. So yeah, it's not very economical right now.

That's LA as in Louisiana, not Los Angeles. ;)

As far as I know it says like 70°F (21°C) in Los Angeles all of the time.

ooops, and down there it is super humid too, right - omg that would kill me even more - the 100+°F we had here were at least dry.

btw:computers don't draw that much power (just because u have a 400W PSU doesnt mean it draws 400W) - neglegible compared to an A/C unit

It's hot, but it also hardly ever gets below freezing there. The winters are usually fairly mild.

How is the heat index calculated?
150°F is pretty nice. I worked on roofs in Arizona for a summer for $10/hr. Boy that was pretty fun when it was 120°F in the shade. Had to drink 2+ gallons of agua each day or you start to get loopy. Loopy on the roof=fall off the roof. Like my buddy Derek who was catching the tiles I was pitching at him and found the edge of the house. Good thing there was some scaffolding right below him or he woulda been hurtin.

5.1 cents per kWh * 1,428 = $72.85 for July 9th thru Aug 6th. Thermostat set for 74 degrees and three PCs running several hours per day. PCs actually only use about 100Watts each... big deal! I guess my efforts as official light turner offer have paid off.

Surprisingly only 382 KWH in 27 days. Came out to less than $62. There's only 2 of us in this house... tiles on the first floor help keep the house real cool in the summer so the central A/C is never on either. Working from home this past month should raise that a bit, I'm sure. I should be compensated for my internet fee so that should even things out quite a bit. :)

Um, about 2,500 Yen per month. That's about all I can read on the bill without actually sittin down to translate it all. But remember, Kanji are our friends.
