Took them 9 days to install the frontpage extensions on one of mine, and a little under 3 months to change a domain.

I still have not loaded any content on either.

What sucks about shared hosting is that it rarely has anything to do with how well the servers are running... it is usually crappy developers that crash the server... trust me I know :(

Yup, it's my home away from home :p

From personal experience I saw a customer crash a Cold Fusion server by deleting one record from their database. The absense of this record caused their banner engine
to go for an infinite loop. This pegged the Cold Fusion process at 100% thus denying all ASP sites as well. Cold Fusion is the devil, and if I had my way around here, I would
drop it from our share hosting all together!!!

Then again, we have a customer who last week served over 1 million hits in one day and did over $100k in business on a server running Cold Fusion and had over 250 websites on it... They were pretty happy considering they made $100k and their only investment was their $200cdn/month for their web-hosting.

It's nice to see it all work, but to see one customer take everything down is enough to make me pull all my hair out!

I'm on sever 6, and it's been a long long time since i have had a down time (maybe there was, i just didn't notice). When they first got server 6 and 7, some dude ran a huge database with bad coding, causing huge traffic on the server, that database was moved to another server. Since then, server 6 has been very stable
If you have problem, just email Gary, he's very nice and helpful

at the moment, there's no way unless you have Internetseer monitor your website hourly (emailed uptime results weekly). Dixiesys used to have uptime stats here but were unreliable showing 100+% uptime at times.

While were on the subject of Dixiesys, anyone running Movable Type on an Ensim server? i'm having trouble getting it to install (mysql socket connection error). i thought i had it fixed by opening a support ticket and have the socket reset/reestablished (per a thread on the exact same error), yet i still get it. :( would appreciate any help. thx. :)

Thanks.

I think I'll let my current accounts at Dixiesys expire and not sign up again unless I need something really cheap.

It's just too much fun having your own reseller account. I want to give a friend his own website on his upcoming birthday for him and his wife to use. At first I was thinking well I'd better jump on Dixiesys.com's current 2 for 1 promo which ends tonight but then a lightbulb went off in my head. DUH! I have my own resellers account and can easily set aside 25-50MB with 100MB/mo bandwidth for their website. So now I just have to pay the $8.88 domain registration fee and that's it, w00t!

I think he went with http://www.httpme.com/, but until he says so we cant be sure :)

aphex is correct I went with HTTPme.com read my pre-sales post in their forums here, this was before I registered.

HTTPme.com costs more than other webhosts (such as Dixiesys) but the support is FRICKIN' AWESOME, their uptime is unbelievable, they're honest, friendly, you get A LOT with their hosting packages and I even got two personalized nameservers ... so if you did a /whois on my domain you would not see ns1.httpme.com and ns2.httpme.com you would see ns1.whateveriwant.com and ns2.whateveriwant.com

I highly recommend either HTTPme.com or Voxtreme.com they are the cream of the crop. Voxtreme has a reseller plan starting at only $20/mo. Both webhosts are more than happy to customize a webhost plan just e-mail them at sales@httpme.com or sales@voxtreme.com make sure to include how much you're willing to spend, the storage and bandwidth you would like.

Again these are not as cheap as Dixiesys (which offers a great product for their particular niche) but take a look at either webhost and I can guarantee you will be pleased with what you see.

It's like someone on WebHostingTalk.com said "HTTPme.com customers have a cult like following" and it's true.

I am 100% satisfied!
