How much does it take to start up a restaurant that can seat about 80 people?

With all due respect, wouldn't it be better to read some books instead of asking fellow Anandtechers? This is a serious matter, I'd think...

Quite a bit I would think....try this: Save $150 out of each paycheck for 25 years. 25 years from now you'll have $90k which should be enough to get you started. Or, if you save $200 out of each paycheck, in 25 years you'll have $120k. Now think if you can save $500 out of each paycheck ($150 and $200 out of each paycheck is a lot, $500 is impossible in most cases unless you make quite a bit each check, but think about this) you'll have 300k in 25 years. Make opening a restaurant a goal for after you retire :)

Err.. PLEASE tell me you have at least some foodservice industry experience, or at the very least have run your own business before.

No way you'll be able to handle all the logistics with capital alone. Running a restaurant is very serious stuff. What kind of restaurant? Will you be serving alcohol? There's like a thousand other questions you need to consider. Go buy a book.

Minimum you'll need $100,000 - $250,000.

Can get higher for better equipment, staff, decor, and will greatly vary on geographical factors.
Plus enviromental impact fees, city, county, and state licensing, plus construction, plus insurance, plus rent. (TY PAB)

Well what is your current financial situation and do you have any family members who would work for cheap?

Restauranting is a very hard business to be in. Ask around some restaurants in town, you'll probably find someone wanting to sell out.
