The name and space is cheap, $25 to $75 a month depending on what services you need...

Your time is worth whatever you want...

$20 to $40 an hour is a reasonable rate if part time work...

Some larger firms charge more, some kids will do it for $10 an hour...

Domain name: about $60 for 5 years, hosting: basic hosting is usually about $10.

Your time: how good are you at webdesign? ;)

Charge $20/hr.

$30/month for hosting...

$15/year for the name...

It's up to you really...

The price of obtaining a name is CHEAP, everything else is profit divided by time.

I'm just a hack. I'm not really any good. :)

Where is best to register domain names and rent space?

If you're good at web design, and if the site has a decent amount of content don't be too bashful with your price (although I can understand the hesitation when family's involved.) Most people assume you can just slap together a decent-looking web site for next to nothing. And if you're just looking at an entry level site that may be true. But it never ceases to amaze me how many people will be SO FRIGGIN cheap when it comes to building a web site for a business. They think that just because they've heard all this dot com doom and gloom that web site development costs should be next to nothing. And if they don't like your price, then "we'll just do it ourselves." And my . . . don't they make some nice creations. :p Invariably, a large percentage of those people either come back to us later for help or end up hiring employee(s) to manage the site.

Sorry. Just had to gripe. And I'm not even a developer :D

Here is a link to the Hot Deals Forum. The had a thread of good hosts and places to register your domain name. I found it quite helpful.
