Auto glass isn't cheap. See if you can find a used one. Sometimes you can find cheaper ones that have a couple of scratches and they're usually not noticeable anyway. Good way to save some cash.

it's about 200 bucks

shop around

my Honda CR-V was quoted between 185-225

it all depends on the brand glass they use and if it'll need the rubber mouldings etc..

notr something you want to cheap out with. i remember watching 20/20 on it. its an intergral part of your cars support structure. without a good one your cars roof is weakened, in a roll over you might not survive. the 20/20 was on people that died because their replacement windshields were installed by hacks that installed the things incorrectly. u gotta be careful wtih em, any hand graese on parts that adhere to the car weakens the bond apparently. have a professional do it.

I saw the same special and the reason people died like that isn't from a roll over it was because they didn't wear their seat belts and when they went flying the hit the windshield and it detacched on allowing the idiots to keep flying.

Feb. 25 ? A windshield can be as important to auto safety as seat belts, air bags and anti-lock brakes.
More than just protection from wind, rain and debris, auto glass can save lives by preventing the driver and passengers from being thrown out of a vehicle in a collision. And, today more than ever, vehicles depend on the glass to add to its structure and strength as a whole. So, for example, the windshield can be an essential part of an air bag system or prevent the roof from caving in.
But installation is key: The difference between a properly affixed windshield and a poor job can be the difference between life and death.

If anyone wants to laugh.. call up your local Ford dealer and ask them what a rear window on a Focus WAGON is worth. My dad told me what they go for here, in Candadian funds... sick.

When I had to get my rear windshield replaced on my '99 ZX2, one place quoted me a price of $700...and I said fine, because I wasn't paying for it. (I live right next to a high school, and their baseball field juts up next to our parking lot...someone hit a home run, which smashed through my rear windshield).

Check with your insurance company. Many of them will replace your windshield for no deductible and no mark against your record with them. As was already mentioned, windshields in todays' cars are also safety devices and key to a car's structual integrity.

btw, anyone notice the ads at the bottom of the page? They never cease to amaze me... :p

You won't pass inspection, more important, the cracks affect the structural integrity of the glass windshield, and that is dangerous as h*ll. Get it fixed.

Just today I had the windshield on my daughter's 96 Caravan replaced, $220 plus tax. I wouldn't let her drive it until it was replaced.
