How much does it cost to repair an ac in a used car?

I saw this one car on craiglist that kinda got my attention, but the main problem is that the AC in it does not work. Does anyone know how much it would cost to fix it?

Soon as you tell me how you like the shirt I have on right now, I'll give you a detailed estimate of how much it'll cost to fix the A/C. 😉

Seriously, there's no way to know, unless you already know exactly what's wrong with it.

If it just needs to be charged, $20-30 will get you a kit.

If it's an old R-12 system with a leak and a bad compressor...probably a bit more.

The A/C in my car cost $600 to repair. I had to fix it anyway because I had a sales job at the time and could not show up to appointments with big sweat spots all over my shirt.

There are so many variables it is impossible to say for sure. Best bet is to take it to an A/C shop and get an estimate before buying.

Depends on the car, but it could easily run over $2k if you have to replace the compressor, clutch, evap core, hoses, condenser, etc.

I saw that car too! The ac is not the main problem, its the muffler bearings that are shot. You will want to get those fixed first!
