how much does it cost to live?

as it is right now, the only things my parents pay for is a house for me to live in, food for me to eat, health insurance, and use of a car (but I cover insurance and gas).

so, how much does an apartment cost, how much does food cost, how much does health insurance cost, and aren't there some extra fees that I'll have to pay when I'm 18?

So basically they pay for ... everything major!

Exactly. Cost of living varies from place to place. If you live in Bumblefvck, Iowa, your cost of living is going to be a lot lower than someone who lives in Manhattan.

I pay $510/month for a 1 bedroom apartment in a college town.
I pay $200/month for food.
I pay $900/year for health insurance
I pay $820/year for car insurance
I pay $150/month for utilities

I am a junior in college.

I pay $2300 for mortgage
125 for car insurance
125 for groceries (weekly)
825 for two vehichles
I actually make money on health insurance (don't ask, it's complicated)

and a lot more expenses that you didn't inquire about.

I pay $1200 per month for the mortgage
$370 per month for my wife's car
$100-$200 per month for maintenance on my truck
$120 per month on insurance for our two vehicles
$50 per month for electricity
$50 per month for gas service
$60 per month for cable/internet
$45 per month for phone
$90 per week for groceries for the two of us.

I pay $13600/month for mortgage, $1700/month on utilities, $2500 on food (eat out at fancy restaurants waaaaaaay too much), andabout $2200/month on car payments. Then another $1500/month on incidentals like car insurance, maintenance, etc. These are just the basics.

Your house must be huge/in a nice neighborhood.
It's ok for a starter home, but fairly embarassing when I have to bring friends over :Q

Damn your Maxima must have some Bling if its $2200/mo! 😉
23" spinners, baby! You can't quite make them out in the pic, but they're there. Each one weighs 270 pounds!

um, WOW at some people's expenses
that has GOT to suck! LOL
some people spend 5x a month than what i make in a month.

jesus h christmas!

It costs me about $200 a month to live.

I'm always on business travel so I don't have to pay rent, I just live in hotels, which my company pays for. My rental car is paid for as well. Since it's a rental car, I don't have car insurance payments. My food is paid for on weekdays as well. The $200 basically goes to food for weekends.

But you gotta have a place to live? How can you be travelling all the time, you have to come back to your work place and go home.

Get a roommate and you can get by with $800 before any expenses (considering food and gas as expenses).
rent with a roommate should be around $400 including utilites unless you are in a high cost-of-living area.
Insurance ~$125, and you'll need a starter car, so the payments could range between $200-$300 depending on your loan.
Also, securing a loan is something to consider... if you already have a regular job (and paystubs) you should be able to get a loan through your bank/credit union at a decent rate, but if not you'll get probably end up getting screwed.
so if its ~$800 before expense, you'll need ~$200 a month for food and gas, and thats if you don't eat out.

I haven't had to work out of our own corporate office in about 6 months, always been working at client site. And it doesn't appear like I'll have to for the next year or so. So I ended my lease on my apartment. And changed my addresses on credit card statements, etc, to my parents' house, which I visit once every couple months.

If I were you I'd buy a house/property for an investment if nothing else. It must suck living out of a hotel wherever you are based.
