I budget $500 a month for food for my family of 3.

Edit-That's just groceries, not including eating out.

i usually alternate between rice and pasta. when i cook rice, i put beans and barley which tremendously boost nutritional value of the meal without adding too much to the cost. i love pickles and they are usually cheap - kosher dills, pickled jalapeno or tiny peppers, takuan and etc. frozen chicken breasts and fish is quite cheap and easy to bake in the oven. japanese curry, chilly, potato stew with other veggies are my favorite home cooked meals. i do get a lot of fruits including apples, oranges and bananas, so all in all my diet is probably healthier than most of you spending $50+ a day.

It use to be just over 200 a month CND. Now I eat at my girlfriends so much that it's probably 1/2 that.

Now her monthly bill on the other hand. :D

If I only use groceries about $65 a month, but I go out a lot, for lunch, dinners coffee etc so its really closer to $200. Of course if I actually had pans and things in which to cook, and plates (I have utensils though, I'm no savage!) then I might have people (womens) over for dinner instead of going out, but alas I have none of the above so restaurants will have to suffice for now.

I spend $5 a day at school, 5 days a week. So that is $25 one week x by 4= $100 just in breakfast
Also I spend about $125-$130 every two weeks on groceries. So lets say around $250 on groceries.

So I guess i spend around $350 a month on food.

$200 on groceries
$100 on bottled water and powerade
$100 on protein powder, protein bars, and vitamens/supplements

This can all loosely be defined as food as its all ingested.

the two of us spend about 300 a month, but we've started cutting back on some things that we don't REALLY need, like fruit bowls (buy fresh fruit) (on sale), etc.

i'm a coupon fiend however, and i scour the ads every week religiously. This week is a slow supermarket ad week, so we wound up going to a korean market for basic things (stuff is super cheap there but you have to take your time sorting for fruit because half of them are all messed up.)

we eat rice as our staple (asians...) so we usually have rice and something for dinner. we both bring our lunches to work, usually sandwiches. we also have frozen meals on hand which i only buy when on sale, so in our freezer is a variety of healthy choice, lean cuisine and smart ones (coupons ++). we also have pasta quite a bit (buy pasta on sale people... just got a bunch of barilla for 10 for 10.)
