How much does Best Buy Pay?

Hey everyone, I just started working at best buy and just wondering if my pay is somewhat close to everyone who started.

I'm in computer sales. If you guys ever work there, what did they start you guys at?

IIRC, you start off arund 9 bucks.

Aunt, who's 20, is a manager at one of the Best Buy's around Tacoma, and she's been encouraging me to get a job at the one that's about to open up here. She says there's plenty of opportunity for advancement, but I don't know if I would ever want to be one of their staff that deals w/ computers (expecially after my stint as a salesman at Gateway Country before they shut us down).

I was considering applying for computer sales, esp. since they specifically listed they had mega openings there. But, having had a friend who worked at BB it doesn't sound very appealing, esp. since it's not commissioned. Too bad GoodGuys doesn't do computers any more.

They have networking specialized employees now for small businesses and home consumers, and a friend of mine works there 20 hours a week as a 2nd job.

He started off at 16 an hour in Chicago area.

As far as discounts, you still can get some things at cost, however apparently they scrutinize all purchases so that you are not buying it all for yourself. Right now he is golden with the Christmas gift excuse.

Apparently most mark-up in the store: TVs.

so you're saying that you are allowed to use your discount for gifts purposes? I won't get fired for buying it as gifts for christmas?

I think I got $8.50/hr last year when I worked for 2months in Sacramento. Be prepared to pressure your customers to buy warranty plans and accessories. If not, then get ready to work the worse shifts...
