I have no idea what this would cost and would just like an approximate number to go into an estimate.

The house is a row house and the gate will be approximates 3x18x3 (a U shape), about 4' high. Any iron workers here? Heck, I may hire you if you work in the NYC area.

My parents had one installed from a contractor who went around the neighborhood looking for work. that was part of a shared driveway with the neighbors so it extended from one house to the other with a rolling two part door in the middle to secure the drive at night. I think they paid $1200 for their half of it. Your local paper's classified section will have a gates/fences section with all your local talent. Call them for competing quotes.

Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to get multiple estimates as well.

I just completed a massive DIY welding project, gate was 16.5 feet x 7.5 (highest point). I paid for the install which included wireless opener, some additional fab work on the existing fence...total was $2300 for the complete install/hardware.

I'll create a thread about it if I'm not too lazy today.

edit: here it is

Total out of left field guess--75.00 a lineal foot installed for a simple iron fence installed. So in your case 1,800.00 smackers.

I welded up our 12' x 4' gate out of 2" by .120 box tube with .75 pickets, had about $300 in material for the gate and posts. That was about 10 years ago. I kept it light and was able to use a Mighty Mule gate opener.
