I tried to pass someone this morning and the car acted like it went into neutral?then it was revving high like it was stuck in 2nd and wouldn't go over 60. I pulled over and tried to shift manually and eventually it went it to overdrive after 5 miles or so but is jerking when downshifting and upshifting

Wifes 99 Accord was $4500 for a rebuilt from the dealer. Since it was a warrenty fix the cost to the dealer was on the slip...$1200. Little bit of markup there.

Had the tranny on my Camaro rebuilt for a little over a grand. Dont go to a stealership, they will rape you. Go to a shop that only does tranny work.

No, one of the professional places. 😛

A shop here quoted $1900 to rebuild my sister's transmission (Intrepid).

Last few times I went, a transmission at the U-pull-it yard was only $70.

It doesnt seem like our OP would know how to install a new transmission once he got it. Go to transmission places in your town and get some quotes and take the car to the place you like the best.

yea, transmissions arent cheap. if you had a honda, i would just say to get a new engine and tranny cause they are so cheap. maybe you can find the same kinda deal for your chevy.

$1200 is about the price I was quoted for an rebuilt on my '91 Grand Prix (before I found the problem elsewhere, the day before I dropped it off)

Manual transmission FTW 😀

Anyway, most auto tranny work will run $1000 to $1500 deoending on the make and model.

Transmission on my wife's minivan; they originally told her $2500 because they saw an easy mark, so I called every other place in town and used the results to insult, accuse, threaten, and argue them down to $1800. What a deal I got.
