How much does a small new yacht cost?

I'm interested in:

- Total cost of a small, new yacht to buy
- Cost to store it (e.g. summer, winter)
- Cost to use it (e.g. gas, insurance)

Does anyone have a yacht and can give me a sense of it?

Don't worry, everyone on ATOT has a yacht. Once they wake up from the sexcapade threesome they had last night, they'll throw down a few glasses of Perignon and fire up their custom made $10k laptop.

You'll be getting responses in no time! You might even buy a yacht or two! Hmmmm mmmmm b!tch!!!

Well let me put it this way, I found some used yachts for around $250K. But they looked bigger than I needed.

And I DO have to ask about storage, gas, etc. as I've no idea what these cost... in fact, wouldn't ANYONE have to ask the first time...?

I mean it could be $1,000/month or it could be $10,000/month... that's a big difference.

If you're serious about this you would be calling places that sold used yachts. You would also be calling marinas and storage facilities. Not us.

It really depends. Something off the coast of south Texas is proably a lot different than off the coast of Miami vs off the coast of some hole in the wall place on Lake Erie.

I'm not so sure about this, people on ATOT seem to come here to ask all their questions and all their problems like this is the ultimate place for knowledge and help. Also with the majority of ATOT dudes being uber rich playboys it would seem logical this would be a perfect place to ask about Yachts. I mean who knows more about Yachts than rich playboys?

It could even be something SERIOUS
I recall a thread where a dude got kicked in the nutts and was peeing blood and had to come here to ask "is this serious should I go to a doctor?" LOL.

Yea, $250k yacht - but then you need a $200k+ tractor trailer (or, if it's a small-ish yacht, an $85k-$110k truck) to move it around.

I bet most yacht owners hire companies to move their boats overland when they need to. It won't be cheap, but it shouldn't be more than 10k and you should only need to do it every once in a while.

If it's small, it's not a yacht. And if you can find one and come here to brag about your small expediture on a small yacht, you are going to get laughed at. May as well come in here talking about how small your member is.

Not necessarily. A 32 foot Grand Banks, Mainship or Nordic Tug is perfectly acceptable as a trawler style yacht. Most of the smaller vessels are sail. The worst ones are the 32 footers with trawler hulls with a pair of CAT 3208TC's trying to pull 29 knots when in reality they only do that in harbor smooth water. Offshore they're doing 10knots at best and those diesels will be quite unhappy at such a slobbering rate.

Most people think of the 150'+ Feadships when the term yacht gets thrown around. Considerably higher fuel/crew/operating expense!

Boaters often say BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand. 😉

My Dad and Mom have a yacht.

Its a 70' Ketch, took Dad (mostly) 10 years to build the hull in the backyard, another 5 to finish it completely and it cost him most of the money he made during construction.

It costs ~ $400/mo to dry dock it in Mexico for the summer (they live in Baja on it in the Winter the past few decades) and it costs them most of their money to use it 😉

My manager picked up a used small yacht over the summer. I think they got it for around $100,000. It was a 2004 if I remember correctly.
