How much does a kitten cost?

The g/f adopted one last month from a shelter.

$75 to the shelter (older cats are cheaper), plus about $75 for all the assorted crap that you'll need.

Vet visit was about $50 too. So $200 for the first month. All animals from the shelter we went to are spayed/neutered (at least those old enough I suppose), so that $75 covered spaying + initial vaccinations.

After that it should be much cheaper, yearly vaccinations + monthly food & litter costs.

Private party you can probably get one for free, shelters have to cover their operating costs.
